Sweetness, if you came back to me
I would welcome you into my arms
And inside my heart
It would be a simple thing to do
Because you never left them
Even though you went away
Your roots and seeds
Fully into my earth
Pollens in my breath
Long blades of copper-coloured grass
resting on my skin
Mixing with the curly moss that lines my ground
You are where you should be
And so am I
I guess.
Our gardens flourish
Each at our own end
of the same world
Our mountains are still there
Forever bright in that autumn light
We still breathe the same air
That is what my heart
Is telling me:
Nothing has been lost
